Some Days Feel Heavier Than Others
Some days, life feels like it’s happening all at once.
Work gets stressful. Plans don’t go the way you hoped. Your to-do list keeps growing, and your mind never seems to slow down. Then, on top of all of that, there’s diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes doesn’t take a day off just because you’re having a hard time. It doesn’t care if you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained. Your blood sugar still needs attention. Your insulin still needs to be calculated. Every meal, every walk, every stressful moment can affect how your body responds. And honestly? Some days, it’s just a lot.
I’ve learned that it’s okay to admit that. It’s okay to have bad days. It’s okay to feel frustrated or tired. Having diabetes isn’t just about numbers on a screen—it’s about carrying an invisible responsibility every single day.
But something I’ve also learned is this:
Most of the everyday problems that seem so overwhelming today won’t matter as much in a few weeks, months, or years. Your health, however, is something you carry with you every single day.
That’s why it’s so important to take care of yourself.
Take your insulin. Drink some water. Eat something nourishing. Rest when you need to. Ask for help if you’re struggling. Celebrate the small victories, even if they’re as simple as getting through the day. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep going.
Living with Type 1 diabetes takes strength that most people never see. Every correction, every carb count, every alarm in the middle of the night is proof that you’re fighting for your health, even when no one else notices.
So if today is one of those difficult days, remember this:
You’re doing better than you think. Take a deep breath, take care of yourself, and keep moving forward—one step, one meal, one blood sugar check at a time. Your health is your greatest investment, and you are worth taking care of.
With love,
